Georgia: Breech Baby, C-Section and a Battle With Postpartum Depression
Georgia & her husband, VJ, met in college and married in November 2019. They had plans to travel for a bit but after the world shut down 4 months after their wedding, they decided to start a family. She took a test one morning, threw it away, and came home later to find the slightest positive. She sent VJ out for more tests to confirm – they were having a baby!
Pregnancy was positive overall and she stayed active throughout the entire pregnancy. She did learn that the baby was breached and while a c-section was not her plan, she came to terms with the fact.
Georgia and her husband settled into a family of 3 at home, but Georgia could tell her mood was not improving after little sleep, silent reflux, and a hospital visit with her 6 week old for RSV. She continued to check in with her doctor between birth and the initial “6 week checkup” and could tell her depression was more severe. She switched medication and returned to work around 12 weeks, and noticed her mood improved from there!
